Additional details for Aftercar, a planned restaurant from Beltline visionary Ryan Gavel, surfaced this week.
Atlanta Magazine sat down with Gavel for updates on the forthcoming restaurant, first uncovered in September.
Aftercar is planned for the Telephone Factory Lofts, at 828 Ralph McGill Blvd NE.
Slated to open late-2019, Aftercar will offer a “Mad Max-vibe” with elements like “sound-activated light installations” and “arched, beveled ceilings.”
The 5,000-square-foot restaurant, “designed to drive ideas and conversation,” will boast a deck on the Beltline for dining al fresco.
In partnership with sister organization Generator—a nonprofit—the restaurant will host dinner hour art performances “to provoke conversations.”
Its interior lights will change with sound and video monitors will display live feeds of rivers and traffic jams.
The restaurant’s menu is still being determined.
“We want it to be locally sourced, chef-driven, and showcase local breweries and distilleries,” Gavel told Atlanta Magazine.
“It’s hyper-local meets hyper-global.”
Coffee and pastries will be served in the morning.
Table service will be available for lunch, dinner, late-night, and brunch on the weekend.
Gavel even mentions the possibility of “multiple food tenants within the space.”
