Mojave, a new Mexican eatery from the team behind Rose and Crown Tavern, later this year will replace Rio Bravo in Sandy Springs.

Co-Owner Miguel Ayoub in an email Monday told What Now Atlanta Mojave could open as early as May 2019.

Its kitchen will be staffed with employees from Rose and Crown, most of whom are from various regions of Mexico, according to Ayoub.

The staffers are relocating to Mojave as Rose and Crown prepares to close its doors in June.

Rose and Crown, which first opened in 2012, will be rebuilt as part of Village at Powers, a planned $110 million development from InLine Communities, at 1931 Powers Ferry Road.

“We are opening Mojave so our staff will have work while we are under construction at [Rose and Crown] and for the customers that have been loyal to us from day one,” Ayoub said.

Mojave, at 6450 Powers Ferry Rd NW, is about a five-minute drive from Rose and Crown.

“I am excited to create a menu with some of our staff’s family recipes and some recipes that my wife and I have worked on with our chef.”

In addition to “authentic Mexican” recipes, an in-house beverage manager will create seasonal cocktails.

Additional details are forthcoming.
