Hollywood’s The Waffle will soon have a sister restaurant in Westwood, at 10923 Weyburn Avenue.

Construction to finalize the all-day breakfast joint’s interior is set to finally begin, according to City documents obtained Monday by What Now Los Angeles (WNLA).

Plans for The Waffle’s new restaurant were first announced in January 2018 and an opening was slated for later in the same year.

The Waffle replaces Jerry’s Deli in Westwood Village which closed its doors in 2013, bringing “classic American comfort food” at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Christine Deschaine, senior vice president of brokerage at Kennedy Wilson, represented the landlord, Tucker Investment Group, in the $2.7 million lease.

“Westwood Village is experiencing a notable resurgence and The Waffle is a perfect match for the demographics, especially with UCLA’s more than 37,000 students just a short walk away,” Deschaine said at the time of the lease.

“Restaurant consumers in the area are looking for a modern sit-down environment with a local feel and The Waffle has a strong appeal to this generation.”

It will be the second outpost for The Waffle, the first expansion for Co-Owners Gavin Polone and John Papsidera in the company’s ten-year history.

When reached via telephone by WNLA Monday, a manager for the original location said an opening before the end of 2019 is likely.
