From The Simpsons to Disney films to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Los Angeles-based Randy’s Donuts has made its mark on American culture since the opening of its iconic Inglewood store in 1953. Soon, Las Vegas gets to take a bite assuming all goes well during a public hearing held by the Clark County Zoning Commission on February 17.
Randy’s Donuts Owner Mark Kelegian is on Wednesday’s agenda to present plans to build a location from the ground up, at 4693 Blue Diamond Road, according to the meeting agenda. Kelegian acquired the chain in recent years with plans to expand across the west coast and beyond, and has long teased a Las Vegas outpost.
Kelegian on Tuesday did not immediately respond to a request for comment but told sister publication What Now Los Angeles in 2020 that a Las Vegas Randy’s Donuts would open in 2021. Kelegian first started filing plans for the Las Vegas Randy Donuts in late-2020 by way of several permit applications, all of which are “in-process” as of this publication.
During Wednesday’s meeting, the public will be able to review the restaurant’s design including plans for a drive-thru and an iconic Randy Donut’s sign — set to stand 19 feet high. “The sign is shaped like a round donut,” the meeting agenda states. “In 2-foot high capital letters curving around the center of the sign is the name of the restaurant Randy’s Donuts. The sign is supported by two steel posts and is illuminated by ground-mounted lights.”
Randy’s Donuts currently has five locations, all in California, with three officially planned to open in Costa Mesa, Bakersfield and Santa Monica, and more on the way.
