Chicago-based Boka Group is moving forward with plans to open an outpost of its Girl & The Goat restaurant in DTLA’s Arts District.

The City of Los Angeles late last week issued the necessary permits for converting space in the At Mateo development, at 555 S. Mateo Street, into the restaurant.

Construction costs for the 7,000-square-foot space, at the corner of Palmetto and Mateo Streets, are estimated at $1,180,700.

Girl & The Goat L.A., first announced in June 2018, was supposed to open late-summer 2019.

An early-2020 opening is likely given the current construction timeline.

Reps for Boka Group, including Stephanie Izard, the Iron Chef and James Beard winner who helms the kitchen at Girl & The Goat Chicago, did not immediately respond to a request for comment by What Now Los Angeles.
