San Pedro Fish Market is close to opening its Long Beach doors.
CEO Michael Ungaro told The Hi-lo a “soft-opening” was likely in November but What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) Tuesday learned the restaurant’s initial debut will actually be in late-December if not early-2020.
“We’ll soft-open the first week of January and have a Grand Opening Event in the first weekend of February,” Ungaro told WNLA in an email.
“We may quietly open in late-December, after Christmas, to test the menu, etc.”
Ungaro and his team are still hiring for the forthcoming restaurant, needing to fill 40 positions, he said.
The 10,000-square-foot restaurant, at 6550 E Marina Dr., was first announced two years ago as the replacement for Joe’s Crab Shack and was supposed to open in 2018.
With seating for 400, San Pedro Fish Market sits right on the Alamitos Bay Marina offering “stunning sunset views.”
It will be the second location for the eatery which has been a staple in San Pedro since 1965.
