The recently-shuttered TGI Fridays in Warner Center won’t sit dark long.

Nearby Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, at 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd, is making plans to take over the space but probably not until 2021, a manager for the restaurant Tuesday told What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) in a telephone conversation.

Rumors in late-2019 started circulating on social media that Ruth’s Chris was going to replace the TGI Fridays, at 5919 Canoga Ave., in Allison Plaza.

“We are always seeking new and exciting opportunities for guests to experience Ruth’s Chris Steak House across different locations and venues,” a company spokesperson in an email Wednesday told WNLA.

Ruth’s Chris is one of several tenants including AMC being displaced by the forthcoming overhaul of its Promenade shopping center home into the mixed-use project “Promenade 2035.”

TGI Fridays closed its doors Dec. 15, 2019, after nearly 40 years.

A reason for the closure was not disclosed.
