Ichijiku Sushi is ready to open its Highland Park doors, at 5629 N. Figueroa Street, in space formerly home to RBTA. Russell Malixi and Wade McElroy will debut the new restaurant on Thursday, August 6, reps tell What Now Los Angeles.

The space sits adjacent to the duo’s sister concept Cafe Birdie. If Malixi and McElroy ring any bells its because the restaurateurs are also behind Ma’am Sir in Silver Lake—alongside chef Charles Olaliaand—and are in the process of opening a bar inside in Culver City’s forthcoming Citizen Public Market food hall.

Starting with takeout and delivery only, Ichijiku Sushi will operate from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday (Thursday’s opening will be at 6 p.m.). Shortly after its debut this week, the restaurant will add in service seven days a week including the addition of lunchtime hours. Those details are forthcoming.

Helming the kitchen will be chefs Takafumi Kosaka and Kazuhiro Yamada whose menu centers on nigiri and hand rolls.

Speaking of handrolls, if you want to make some at home L.A. staple KazuNori also on Thursday is launching DIY hand roll kits.
