A new sushi concept is expected to make a big splash in Oxnard. With an opening set for late-August or early-September, Gabriel Barajas, the owner of TacosWay, has plans to launch SushiWay with an outpost at 455 South A Street, a source with first-hand knowledge of the incoming restaurant has confirmed with What Now Los Angeles. The menu will focus on Japanese-Mexican fusion cuisine with sushi rolls included.
“The idea came about when Gabriel ‘Mr. TacosWay’ Barajas (TacosWay) and Michael ‘Sushi Mike’ Cardenas (Sushi Roku, Katana) talked about merging their passions for food and libations to create a new dining experience,” the source told WNLA. “The end result is an innovative twist on sushi and mariscos with an extension of the TacosWay brand.”
Barajas’ venture into sushi is new, but his Mexican restaurant, TacosWay, has been a staple in Southern California since its founding in 2012. New locations for TacosWay are also planned to open in Oxnard, and potentially Placentia.
Barajas is also getting into the pizzeria business with a new concept called PizzaWay which is expected to open its doors soon in Warner Center, Van Nuys, and Northridge.
