Maggie Murphy’s, an Atlanta-based full-service salon and barbershop, will join the mix of businesses along the redeveloped Georgia Avenue in Summerhill as the “first service provider,” according to a press release this week.

Maggie Murphy’s will relocate to Summerhill from the MY SALON Suite on Memorial Drive in Grant Park.

It will be its first standalone storefront.

Owned and operated by Whitney Huffman and Jumpy Burns, Maggie Murphy’s offers a variety of salon services from cuts to colors and deep conditioning hair treatments.

The Summerhill appeal had to do with the aesthetic of the redeveloped buildings along Georgia Avenue and the surrounding neighborhood, and its proximity to their existing book of customers, according to the release.

“It had a really nice neighborhood vibe that didn’t seem too commercial,” Huffman shared with What Now Atlanta over the phone.

“It can handle higher traffic volume unlike on Memorial Drive.”

Maggie Murphy’s is expected to open in summer-2020 and will occupy 33 Georgia Avenue, a 1,000-square-foot space next to the future Hero Doughnuts.

In addition to this concept, several restaurants are set to open along Georgia Avenue, including Press Start, Concept, Redacted, HotDog Pete’s, and D Boca N Boca
