In Ventura, the previous location of Rice By Mama, 419 E Main Street in suites B and C, next year will be replaced by The Six Chow House. This will be the restaurant’s fourth location. Already, The Six has locations in West Los Angeles, Studio City, and Calabasas.
Owner Jake King told What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) that the opening is still a ways away with a soft debut planned in February 2021 and a grand opening in March. King said that Ventura’s “strong neighborhood community” attracted him to the market for his newest restaurant. “Our concept has an edge, but not so much that we rule out any age group,” King said. “It works for all ages.”
With Rafa Serrano as the executive chef, the menu includes pizza, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, and appetizers like mac ‘n cheese fritters and buffalo-style cauliflower.
King told WNLA that the menu goes “beyond burgers and pizzas,” saying, “The Six is unique in that it is not the traditional gastropub … Our chef creates a variety of creative dishes that are all made with quality, fresh ingredients made almost entirely in house and with very fair prices to meet every budget.”
King signed a 10-year lease for the 5,323-square-foot, first-floor retail space in Ventura. The lease term for the space starts in January 2021.
