Construction will soon be underway for a new Panera Bread in Piedmont Atlanta Hospital’s new tower, at 1968 Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

Building out the 3,227-square-foot fast-casual soup and salad chain will cost an estimated $500,000, an engineering associate at Piedmont confirmed over the phone with What Now Atlanta (WNA).

Panera will open alongside the first four floors of the tower in August of 2020 as part of the $450 million first phase, led by developer CBRE and designed by architecture firm HKS.

Piedmont’s Panera-owned Au Bon Pain, which is currently in the basement of the main building, will remain open for now, but will soon be shuttering and its staff will be moved to the new Panera, an Au Bon Pain manager shared with WNA over the phone.

Panera closed two nearby locations in the last year, both in Buckhead.

Until the summer of 2020, the Panera Bread in the Powers Ferry Square shopping center, at 3714 Roswell Road NE, will be the only Buckhead outpost for the company.
