DTLA’s Mexicali Taco & Co. on Tuesday opened its second location, this time in San Gabriel. The take-out-only spot, or as the restaurant calls it, “park-and-eat,” most recently housed a Wienerschnitzel, at 1811 S. San Gabriel Blvd. “Friends, our [San Gabriel Valley] location opens today!,” Mexicali Taco posted to its Instagram earlier today announcing the opening. “Thank you for all the love and support throughout the years! It has driven us up to now and will continue to power us forward!”

As it has opened amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, Mexicali Taco is starting off with health and safety in mind. “We have [a] large parking lot, so please feel to SCAN (our QR code for the menu to order by phone)” and “park and eat,” according to the social media post. “We will bring your food out to you and take payment for a socially distanced experience!” There are also tables set out for socially-distanced parking lot dining,

The new Mexicali Taco, from Chef Esdras Ochoa, is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant is closed Sunday. Scope the menu here.
