Iron Teapot Dim Sum and Bar is an all-new Cantonese concept heading to Palms, where the Middle-Eastern restaurant Jaffa held a brief tenancy. The 10306 Venice Blvd space has been vacant since December 2019, according to Eater LA

The owner, Sally Samantha Chan, cites the good coastal breeze and outdoor dining options as the reason for choosing this location. Jaffa, on the other hand, did not fare well in this area, operating for only six months. Mere weeks after its Palms location closed, Jaffa’s original West Third Street restaurant shuttered as well. Jaffa’s Chef Anne Conness also operates Sausal on 219 Main St in El Segundo and Mosa on 190 Hermosa Ave in Hermosa Beach, both of which are currently listed as open

According to Chan, Iron Teapot Dim Sum and Bar has enlisted the help of a chef from “one of the top dim sum restaurants in the world.” Whichever restaurant they are referring to isn’t clear, but Chan is “looking forward to creating a system that creates consistent artisan-style dim sum,” they told What Now Los Angeles in an email, regarding potential future locations. But first, Chan hopes to open the very first Iron Teapot Dim Sum and Bar sometime in December.

(Edited to update the name to Iron Teapot Dim Sum and Bar)
