Micah Wexler, who’s been featured on Netflix’s Chef Show, is trying something new with the popular Wexler’s Deli. While two locations — one on 317 S. Broadway in the Grand Central Market and one on 616 Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica — are currently operating as normal, a third location is turning the dial from “restaurant” to “retail.”
Wexler confirmed with What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) over the phone that this new idea is happening, feeling like it’s a “really great opportunity to bring Wexler’s Deli to a bigger audience with retail, markets, and online.” Wexler’s smoked fish, pickles, caviar, and other goods will be available on shelves, they told WNLA, but a specific location has not yet been landed. “Wexler’s Deli stands for three things: tradition, craftsmanship, and quality,” the website states. “Born of a desire to serve classic Jewish deli food made by people who care, Wexler’s uses old-school methods to handcraft our pastrami and smoked salmon.”
Wexler Deli’s menu consists of all-day breakfast, healthy salads, pastrami sandwiches, and other delicatessen items, which are all provided through catering as well. With Wexler focusing more on the retail side of things, a significant portion of the restaurant responsibilities will now fall into the hands of Wexler’s partner Mike Kassar, who also couldn’t give out specific details, aside from a 2021 opening.
