Award-winning singer/songwriter and actor Ryan Bingham — along with wife, filmmaker Anna Axster — has filed a liquor license for something that appears to be operating out of his Bingham Axster Records HQ. Heart to Whiskey, at 1148 4th ST #116 in Santa Monica, has also recently extended the trademark for that very name.

Bingham is best known for winning the Academy Award for the song “The Weary Kind” for the film Crazy Heart. With a similar namesake, Heart to Whiskey appears to have been conceived at least two years ago, intentions currently unknown, with a trademark filing in September of 2018. Since then, three extensions have been filed, and now, a liquor license. Specifically, the license states the purpose of the filing is for the importation of whiskey and spirits. Typically, that entails importing alcohol and distributing it to manufacturers and wholesalers.

The liquor license was originally filed on Oct 13 and its status is listed as “pending.” Alongside Bingham and Axter, actor and producer Wendelin Von Schroder appears to be involved in the project. What Now Los Angeles reached out to the individuals involved for comment, but they have not yet responded.
