Chef David Rodriguez, already known for his Pizzana pies alongside Chef Daniele Uditi, is opening up the first-ever Ghisallo in Santa Monica in the former Slice space, Eater LA reports. The focus of this new pizzeria will be traditional and authentic wood-fired pizza helmed by Rodriquez, alongside The Tasting Kitchen’s Bruce Horwitz and Mark Meyuhas.
Following LA’s new trend of more focused and “authentic” style pizzas taking over franchise pizza joints, Ghisallo will offer up dozens of original pizza recipes that are ever-rotating — including the Spartacus, Funghi & Truffle, Cacio e Pepe, Nightshade, amongst others. Starters in the form of salads, saffron arancini, and meatballs are also available alongside the wood-fired 12-inch individual pizzas.
Ghisallo does have a website, but all it gives us is an opening date — tomorrow, at press time. The address, listed as 1622 Ocean Park Blvd in Santa Monica will open for good on Nov. 17 with hours from Tuesday through Sunday only, 5 PM to 10 PM. Pickup and delivery through Postmates, GrubHub, and DoorDash are available.
