Tree of Wishes was amongst many restaurants in LA that did not fare well in the COVID crisis, having only been opened for three weeks before the pandemic hit. Following this, owner Jerfi Firatli spent some time out of the US but has since decided to reopen his restaurant, according to a Tree of Wishes spokesperson. That was, until, new restrictions were put in place.
At 7469 Melrose Ave, Tree of Wishes will open, fully refreshed at an undisclosed time in the future, the owner hopes. “We were planning to reopen by the end of November but now with the new regulations and rapid increase in Covid19 cases we have to postpone the opening indefinitely,” Firatli told What Now Los Angeles. News of these regulations came in the form of an announcement from Los Angeles County on Sunday. Starting Wednesday, November 25, outdoor dining, in addition to indoor dining, will not be allowed. Only takeout and delivery will be offered for at least the next three weeks until the number of novel coronavirus cases lowers significantly.
According to a CUB filing with the LA Department of City Planning, Firatli made the first move toward reopening with a conditional use license for beer and wine served within a 3,283 square-foot indoor space and a 1,144 square-foot outdoor patio. Tree of Wishes will serve a plethora of wines, draft beer, and seltzers. Tree of Wishes’ cuisine comes from the mind of Chef Tevfik Alparslan, an award-winning Turkish chef. The menu consists of brunch and dinner items that lean toward Turkish-inspired breakfast food. Alparslan is perhaps best known for his Istanbul restaurant, Topaz.
