Recent liquor license filings show a new restaurant called Be Saha is in the works at 4677 30th St. Behind the project is Tahona Bar’s Amar Harrag, who brought the city’s first mezcal tasting room to Old Town in 2018.
On a call with What Now San Diego, Harrag did not disclose any information about what menu items to expect at Be Saha, nor the opening timeline. However, if his past bars are any indication, San Diego foodies can keep their expectations high.
Harrag’s speakeasy bar, Oculto 477, is hidden in a century-old building that sits adjacent to Old Town’s El Campo Santo Cemetary. The menu is inspired by craft cocktails throughout history.
When he’s not busy starting up new restaurants, Harrag is a broker at Allied Green Realty, an environmentally and socially conscious real estate company that he founded.
In addition to his business ventures, Harrag is also a prominent local philanthropist. He founded the San Diego chapter of Corazon de Vida, an organization that helps orphans throughout Baja California, and sits on the board of directors for a similar mission called Create Purpose.
The address listed on liquor license applications shows Be Saha coming into the same space which recently held Jaynes Gastropub, which has not opened since the first coronavirus lockdown in March.
