Jussiara Carneiro learned how to cook from her mother in Brazil. When she moved to San Diego in 2018, she was bringing along 20 years of experience working in a variety of Portuguese restaurants in her home country.
“My dream was always to open a business for myself,” Carneiro told What Now San Diego. “I love to cook Brazilian sweets and I have many Brazilian customers here. I’m bringing them the sweets that they know very well.”
Since October, she has taken her small business full-time, and her customer base is growing quickly. Carneiro hopes to serve San Diego’s Brazilian community through her baking.
As pastry orders pile up, she has found a need to upsize her kitchen space. In the coming weeks, she will begin offering takeout and delivery from her new location at 10455 Pomerado Rd. near Alliant University.
While she is working out of a commercial kitchen at the moment, Carneiro hopes to open her first brick-and-mortar location by Spring. Her menu is colorful, sweet and savory, featuring snacks like coxinha (chicken croquettes) and Brazilian coconut flan with guava sauce.
