Authentic New York pizza joint NY Pizzeria Company is in the process of opening a second San Diego shop, owner Eric Ulkutekin tells What Now San Diego. He says the new location will likely open sometime in April, with a targeted date set for April 1.
The new location on 310 Euclid Ave. — which replaces a Papa Johns — will have a greater emphasis on selling pizza “by-the-slice” than the Chula Vista storefront and will have specials and more options corresponding to that philosophy. Menu items will remain mostly the same as the original location.
Ulkutekin says NY Pizzeria will likely offer limited inside seating eventually, but it’s unclear when that would be due to the pandemic.
“We’re pretty ambitious that there will be dine-in one day again,” he told What Now San Diego in a phone interview. “We are anticipating that COVID will be something that we gain control over eventually with vaccines and all that. Hopefully we’ll be able to dine-in again so we’ll have some seating.”
Ulkutekin says the new location will sell beer and wine at some point, but the licensing process will not be complete by the time of the restaurant’s expected opening in all likelihood.
