Dragon Con Runs Labor Day Weekend

Dragon Con, one of the biggest pop culture events in the country, is set to take over downtown Atlanta. The five-day fan event will run during Labor Day weekend, from August 28 to September 1, gathering sci-fi stars, comic creators, gamers, cosplayers, and more.
A fan-favorite tradition is the free parade, which takes place through downtown Atlanta, happening at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 30. Fans in fancy costumes will walk the streets to show off their outfits in a celebration of fandom and creativity.
The convention kicks off at 5 p.m. on Thursday and runs nonstop until 5 p.m. on Monday. Events will span five downtown hotels: Hyatt Regency, Hilton Atlanta, Sheraton Atlanta, Marriott Marquis, and Westin Peachtree Plaza.
The event has been a big part of Atlanta since 1987, when it was started by members of the Dragon Alliance of Gamers and Role-Players. Since then, Dragon Con has grown into a huge, multi-hotel event that draws thousands of fans every year.
Signature Events
The convention also highlights visual arts, performance, and crafts tied to sci-fi and fantasy culture. With a variety of exhibitors and vendors, attendees can meet some of today’s most famous names.
Beyond shopping and collectibles, attendees can join workshops on acting, writing, cosplay, and more. From acting and writing to Tai Chi and belly dancing, there’s something for everyone to learn.
This year’s guest list includes many famous faces from well-known franchises, such as:
- Peter Macon from The Orville
- Max Huang from Mortal Kombat
- Anne Winters from Zac & Mia
