The 44th Annual Georgia Veterans Day Parade Marches Back to Midtown
The Georgia Veterans Day Parade returns to Midtown for its 44th year, continuing a proud Atlanta tradition. Commissioner Patricia Ross, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel with the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal.
This year’s theme, ‘Honoring Women in Uniform,’ celebrates the contributions of women serving in the U.S. military
Founded in 1981 by the Georgia Veterans Day Association, the parade honors veterans and active-duty service members across the nation. The event also reminds communities of the courage and commitment shown by those who serve in uniform.
When and Where to Watch
Atlanta residents can catch the parade on Saturday, November 8, starting at 11 a.m. This year’s parade will make its way down Peachtree Street, from 15th to 5th Street in Midtown.
What’s Happening Before and After the Parade
Before the parade, attendees can join the annual Observance Ceremony. This part of the Georgia Veterans Day Parade will take place at 10 a.m. Those attending can move inside the Woodruff Arts Center for the Observance Ceremony.
The ceremony offers a formal tribute to veterans while helping raise awareness about the value of military service.
Following the parade, the annual GVDA Freedom Ball will be held in the Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium. The black-tie gala, a celebration of U.S. veterans, is the only ticketed event of the parade celebration. Details related to the Midtown-based gala event are available here.
As it returns to Midtown, the 44th Annual Georgia Veterans Day Parade showcases Atlanta’s deep appreciation for the nation’s veterans and military families.
