One Restaurant in Metro Atlanta Failed Health Inspection Due to Food Code Violations

A restaurant in Norcross, Metro Atlanta, received an unsatisfactory score during a routine health inspection on Monday, April 21. The health department gave the restaurant an unsatisfactory “U” grade in the inspection after it scored less than the required 70 points to pass the inspection.

Among the total 16 violations cited in the report, all but four were corrected on-site during the inspection. The remaining issues are to be resolved within the time frame mentioned in the inspection report. A follow-up inspection has been scheduled for the restaurant, at which time the corrections will be checked, and compliance will be assured.

Inspectors from the GNR county health department conducted the inspection at Noodles Bar and Dumpling between 2 PM and 4 PM on Monday. The inspection report listed the various violations that were reported at the restaurant.

The report noted that the designated person-in-charge (PIC) was not present during the inspection. An employee was assigned as the person-in-charge of the restaurant. The report said the PIC did not demonstrate active managerial control of the facility. The PIC was not able to find the signed employee health agreements, leading to another violation.

Aprons were stored in a handwashing sink, which is not allowed. The aprons were removed as a corrective action. An employee was seen preparing food without a proper hair covering and was made to wear a hat.

Several issues concerning food storage were also reported. Beef in the walk-in freezer and pickled vegetables/chicken broth in the cooler were uncovered, it was noted. The items were covered to correct the issue. Ready-to-eat items such as dumplings, pork, beef, and pickled vegetables that were prepared more than 24 hours ago were not date-marked. The items were date-labeled to fix the issue.

Containers of sauces and spices were not labeled, and labels were later added, fixing the issue, the report said. Containers of oil were seen stored directly on the floor. The oil was removed from the floor to correct the issue.

Cups were seen stacked wet, and plates were seen stored uncovered. Cups were spaced to air dry, and the plates were covered as a corrective action. The report noted that bowls that were being used as scoops were left in bulk food containers. The bowls were removed from the containers to correct the issue.

Several spray bottles containing chemicals lacked labels, it was reported. The bottles were labeled as a corrective. The report also pointed out that the facility lacked a functioning thermometer for checking the internal temperatures of thin foods.

Cloths that were being used for cleaning were stored in sanitizer at a concentration that was too low, the report noted. The sanitizer was remade. The facility did not have test strips to check sanitizer strength, it was also noted.

Follow-Up Inspection Scheduled

As per the official inspection report that has been released online, the follow-up inspection at Noodles Bar and Dumpling will happen on or before May 1, 2025. The team at the restaurant will have to ensure that all the issues have been addressed and corrected to avoid permit suspension.

Further, the inspection report also stated that an additional routine inspection would be conducted by April 21, 2026.

On Monday, April 21, 2025, a total of 25 restaurants were inspected by the Gwinnett, Newton & Rockdale County Health Departments. Among them, 11 were successful in scoring a perfect 100, and another nine scored in the 90s, making the total number of restaurants with an “A” grade 20. Furthermore, there were three restaurants that scored between 80 and 89 and one that scored in the 70s.
