ATL-Cruzers Plans To Transport Atlantans Using Global Electric Motorcars.

Coming to a street near you, ATL-Cruzers will be offering an eco-friendly supplement to Marta and an alternative to taxi cabs.

Atlantans looking for short distance commutes between downtown and midtown can pay a flat rate of $4 instead of the equivalent $8 taxi ride. With a soft launch in March and an official April opening, ATL-Cruzers will start with four global electric motorcars; two with four seats and two with six.

Stephen Chester, president of ATL-Cruzers, came up with the idea for utilizing these electric powered vehicles considering the insufficient amount of transportation resources outside of Marta and taxi cabs.

The gems (global electric motorcars) or cruzers allow passengers to travel anywhere between the set tariff zones amid downtown and midtown. The cruzers are street legal and similar to cars. They are equipped with safety belts and suspension, everything except for doors. All forms of payment are accepted with the use of mobile debit card and credit card machines.

With the recent decline in federal funding for a streetcar line along Peachtree Street, Chester feels that if the city were to come up with funding, ATL-Cruzers would work in conjunction. “I know its a funky looking ride but jump on and enjoy the cruise.”
