Resurgence Commercial Partners Receives Nod for Redevelopment Project in Vine City

Invest Atlanta has approved Atlanta-based developers Resurgence Commercial Partners to move forward with a mixed-use redevelopment. The project will redevelop the historic 8-acre site into a new mixed-use destination. The long-vacant site is located at 50 Sunset Avenue and 41 Griffin Street.
Invest Atlanta purchased the property in 2014 and assembled the parcels for future redevelopment. The area in which the property stands was declared a historic district in 2011. It once housed the home of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson Sr. The site now sits close to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Georgia World Congress Center, and other significant landmarks.
Project Details and Preliminary Plans

The preliminary plans for the redevelopment include a 100-room boutique hotel. More than 200 mixed-income rental units and 15 for-sale homes will also be delivered through this project. There will be a 30,000-square-foot learning and innovation center.
The project is being developed in partnership with Morris Brown College. Plans incorporate portions of the college’s existing property into new education and innovation spaces. It will also include workforce training centers and neighborhood retail.
Retail plans include a small grocery store and space for nonprofit organizations. Finally, structured parking and expanded green space will complete the redevelopment. The development team includes ImpactData, Gibraltar Capital Partners, and the Miles Development Group.
