Dallas-based StreetLights Residential is proposing a 26-story mixed-use residential tower at 121 5th Street NE.

The real estate developer Tuesday presented plans to Midtown’s Development Review Committee (DRC) for the project.

The yet-to-be-named development would sit adjacent the historic St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Elements of gothic architecture are incorporated in the design of 121 5th Street in keeping with the aesthetic of the church.

Ground could break in spring 2020.

Once complete, 121 5th Street would offer 19 stories of studio, one-, two-, and-three-bedroom apartment units and seven levels of podium parking with 568 parking spaces including 150 spaces reserved for St. Mark Church.

Retail fronting Juniper Street would total 4,335 square feet.

There are also plans for a “common lounge for residential access” located at the “street intersection.”

The DRC recommended “moving the retail space to the corner of 5th and Juniper to take advantage of pedestrian activity” and “strengthening the exterior design features by working with Atlanta City Design Studio due to the building’s prominent scale and its location adjacent to the historic church.”

“Upon addressing the comments and collaborating with the Design Studio the applicant team is expected to return to the DRC,” the Midtown Alliance published in its meeting recap Wednesday.

StreetLights did not immediately respond to What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
