UPDATE (April 8, 2019): $150 MM Mixed-Use 8West Moving Forward on Westside, New Renderings Unveiled
Atlantic Capital Properties’ Jim Meyer and Gateway Ventures’ Mack Reese have a four-acre site on the Westside under contract with plans to develop 8 West there, the Atlanta Business Chronicle (ABC) Friday first reported [paywall].
A project spokesperson in an email confirmed the news with What Now Atlanta.
Situated at the intersection of Howell Mill Road and 8th Street, the land for the forthcoming $150 million development is expected to close in October with construction starting there shortly after.
Once complete, 8 West would offer 175,000 square feet of office space across nine floors, 10,000 square feet of ground-level restaurant and retail, and 264 apartments from developer Trammell Crow Residential.
“The timing to integrate a Class A workspace component into the retail hub of the Upper Westside could not be better,” Meyer said in a prepared statement.
“…With 8 West, we have designed a project which will appeal to creative companies and individuals who value walkability and unparalleled access to the best restaurants and entertainment venues in Atlanta – a place where people want to be…”
Nearby businesses Bartaco, Bocado, Arden’s Garden, A Ma Maniere and the new Hathaway Gallery space (relocating to the development) will be “blended” into 8 West and will remain open during construction.
8 West, slated to deliver in spring 2020, is being designed by MSTSD and ASD | Sky.
what is the plan to mitigate an already horrible traffic problem in west midtown? with over 1000 new housing units in addition to this new project then add in a new park at the quarry and more than 1200 new housing units less than a 1/4 mile away off northside and this will be an epic mess! Please tell me there is a plan in place before the construction and not an afterthought like every other neighborhood in town.
