Last week, Selig Enterprises Inc and ASD/SKY submitted plans to provide building material improvements and enhance the landscaping for the Lenox Marketplace building located at 3535 Peachtree Road in the Buckhead Commercial Neighborhood.

Special Public Interest District-12 Development Review Committee will be discussing the Lenox Marketplace improvements during their regular meeting scheduled for January 5, 2022.

According to site plans drawn by ASK/SKY, this project includes a facade facelift and an update to the existing hardscape and landscaping plans along Peachtree and Oak Valley roads between the Dick’s Sporting Goods driveway and the Publix driveway. No changes are being made to building height, area, parking, or loading areas. The documents published do not currently indicate a timeline for the proposed improvements.

Currently, the site contains boulevard trees along Peachtree Road and Oak Valley Road, along with some landscape buffering with metal railing. The proposed plan includes the following landscaping improvements:

  • A raised planter and accent concrete which will define dining areas
  • Replacement of the crape myrtles with new oak trees
  • Installation of accent paver bands and topical planters at the edge of the building
  • Retaining wall with landscaping zone and trees creating a brewery patio
  • New wood-clad benches
  • Improved landscaping near the transformer
  • Ramp and railing improvements

Extensive building material changes along Peachtree Road and Oak Valley Road will also be reviewed, including:

  • Repainted brow cladding and brick
  • New building and wall lighting
  • Columns will be replaced with painted brick
  • New exterior wood plank cladding
  • New signage above the metal shades

According to the SPI website, District 12 covers the commercial core of the Buckhead Community surrounding the two malls and the high-rise office developments. This zoning overlay district was one of the first-ever written in the City and one of the last to be incorporated into the underlying zoning. In addition, the Development Review Committees (DRC) had been established as an advisory group that provides recommendations and formal comments on Special Administrative Permit Applications to the Director of the Bureau of Planning.
