Epicurean Atlanta will open its Midtown doors, at 1117 West Peachtree Street, in late summer 2021, according to a press release Tuesday. The hotel occupies one of three towers located in the 1105 West Peachtree property by Selig Development, with the 31-story office tower and a 64-unit condo tower all connected by a Sky Terrace. Epicurean Atlanta is a member of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection and is the second of the Epicurean Hotel brand.

Epicurean’s first outpost was a collaboration between Mainsail Lodging & Development and Bern’s Steak House in Tampa, Fl. — founded in 1956 by husband-and-wife restaurateurs Bern and Gert Laxer, and now helmed by their son David.

“Atlanta has always been a hub for cultural immersion that spans art, renowned design, education and culinary talent” Joe Collier, Mainsail Lodging & Development founder, said in the release. “We want to embed ourselves in the local landscape and breathe more life into the fabric of the city.”

Atlanta-based architectural and interior design firm Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio was commissioned to oversee the hotel’s design. The project’s interior will reflect an “urban foodie and wine lovers’ paradise” with 178 guest rooms (which includes 22 suites.)

Key elements of the property include The Epicurean Theatre, a 1,964 square-foot space equipped with a kitchen via a partnership with Sub-Zero and Wolf. The space will also feature multiple 86″ LED TVs with space to accommodate up to 100 attendees. The venue also acts as a customizable event area. The one-acre Sky Terrace, located on the ninth floor, will feature a café, a swimming pool with temperature-controlled cabanas, and an events lawn.

Marc Bauer was brought on as general manager of the hotel. Under his guidance, six hotels achieved the AAA Four Diamond Award, and he secured the Forbes Four-Star Award during his time at One Ocean Resort & Spa, according to the release.

“Atlanta’s food scene is on fire and Epicurean Atlanta will bring that culinary interest to the next level,” Bauer said. “We’re looking to build upon what already makes Midtown great and solidify Atlanta as the ultimate dining destination in the region.”
