Johnson Development Associates (JDA), an industrial, multifamily, and self-storage real estate developer, has plans to open Extra Space in the forthcoming Northside & 17th mixed-use project.

The firm late last week filed a permit with City of Atlanta to build the 875-unit storage facility from the ground-up, at 1299 Northside Drive.

An estimated $6,750,000 could be spent constructing the 112,448-square-foot Extra Space facility, according to the application.

A landing page on the JDA website confirms the news.

“JDA will construct a five-story, Class A self-storage facility in the high-growth submarket of West Midtown, within the City of Atlanta (Fulton County), Georgia,” according to the company’s website.

“The facility will be located at one of Atlanta’s most prominent, in-town intersections, within walking distance of Atlantic Station. It sits within a mixed-use development anchored by a new Kroger Marketplace that is expected to deliver first quarter of 2018.”

Extra Space would join Kroger and Chipotle at the Northside & 17th development.

  • I was just in Vancouver and Seattle for the last few says and funny thing was all if the people and phenomenal architecture, but not one storage facility, or gas station complex. Are there tons of these in Canton, or Woodstock areas?

  • This is incredibly disappointing and so bad for Atlantic Station and all the surrounding neighborhoods. How could our mayor, our city council and the zoning board let this happen?
