Plans to build a Hyatt Place from the ground up downtown are moving forward.
Atlanta-based developer Songy Highroads, LLC last week filed a permit application with the City of Atlanta to construct the hotel’s concrete shell, at 300 Luckie Street, one block from Centennial Park.
Constructing the shell for the 146,000-square-foot concrete structure will cost an estimated $6,700,000.
Songy, in a joint venture with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, completed the acquisition of two sites—an abandoned two-story commercial building and public parking lot—at the corner of Lucky Street at Latimer Street, in late-2017.
The two-story, mid-century building has since been demolished to make way for the forthcoming hotel, aptly named Hyatt Place Centennial Park, for its proximity to the green space.
“Downtown has always been a vital part of Atlanta’s business community and entertainment scene, but in recent years we’ve seen a renewed sense of interest and excitement for the area from visitors, locals and businesses alike” Todd Nocerini, COO of Songy, said in a press release at the time of acquiring the sites.
“The popularity of tourism makes the Centennial Park District the perfect locale for a new addition to our portfolio.”
Once complete, Hyatt Place Centennial Park will be a “limited-service” hotel with 174 guestrooms, a parking deck, fitness center, lobby bar/food service, pool and approximately 2,500 square feet of meeting space.
