Owner Godfrey Tago filed plans with the City of Atlanta Wednesday to open Tago International Center, a recreation facility geared toward women’s health and fitness, at 1735 Defoor Place NW in the Underwood Hills neighborhood. Tago previously owned the now-closed London Bistro Lounge on Howell Mill Road.

“This project has been in the works for five years now, and we’ve finally found the perfect location for our health-focused seminars, events, and classes for women,” Tago told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone conversation Thursday.

The center will feature tennis courts, table tennis, badminton, zumba classes, and petanque. Personal trainers will also be available for a variety of group and individual classes.

“We’re going for fun fitness,” Tago added. “I spent time in the club and restaurant businesses, but the health industry intrigued me and led me to this concept and unique space.”

Renovations on the 4,972-square-foot space previously occupied by shoe outlet Goodee 2 Shoes will cost an estimated $2,200.

No official date has been set, but Tago plans to open the recreation center sometime in October
