Atlanta’s popular popsicle maker bought a 68-acre farm near Douglasville.

King of Pops closed this week on a 68-acre farm 30 minutes west of Atlanta, the popular popsicle maker announced in a press release.

The farm will be used for producing fruit, honey and herbs for the company’s pops, composting its organic waste, operating an existing nursery, and expanding its community education outreach.

“A project like this — a farm growing fruit and ingredients for the pops — is all about sustainability for me,” Nick Carse, King of Pops co-owner, said in the release.

“Sustainability for both the company and the world we live in. It’s the right thing to do, and allows us to explore new interests and opportunities. We love our local community and want to do as much within and for it as we can.”

The property, which will be managed by Peter Calabrese, has 26 greenhouses, where King of Pops plans to “experiment with a wide variety of produce.”

“Pops are still our focus, but we’re proud to announce that we’re evolving our perspective on sourcing, and are excited to invest a lot more energy in local farming.”
