Three-story athletic center, new gym, and more.
The Lovett School, a private K-12 college-prep day school located in Buckhead, has filed a building permit application with the City of Atlanta to begin demolition of its 4,700-square-foot stadium at 4075 Paces Ferry Road.
Lovett will build a new LEED-certified, three-story athletic center complete with locker rooms, fitness and weight training space for students, faculty, and staff, and a gymnasium totaling 41,300 square feet, as well as a replacement 3,650 square foot stadium including restrooms, concessions, and a press box. The school will also renovate its Hite Wellness Center to create an enlarged 3,670-square-foot sports medicine area.
The new athletic building will be named Murray Athletic Center after The Stuart and Eulene Murray Foundation, which has given $5 million toward Lovett’s facilities in their capital giving campaign “Our Defining Decade.”
On the new construction, Lovett’s Director of Athletics Steve Franks says, “The new Murray Athletic Center will give our student-athletes the strength and conditioning resources that they deserve, enhancing their ability to train and perform in Lovett’s competitive sports environment.”
The Murray Athletic Center and the renovations planned are multimillion dollar projects that will begin construction this spring.
