Le Maison Rouge, the boudoir-aspirant event space that was formerly housed in the Paris on Ponce building, is currently in permitting to open in its new home on the market level of the Healey Building at 57 Forsyth.

On November 27, 2019, a nighttime fire destroyed the 100-year-old Paris on Ponce building and boutique.

“We had so many events booked that we had to get this backup and running very quickly,” Skip Engelbrecht, owner of Le Maison Rouge, told What Now Atlanta during a phone interview.

“Luckily, we were offered the space at the Healey building, so we are in full construction mode now.”

The interior buildout of the space is expected to cost $25,000 according to City filings.

The new, roughly 9,000 square-foot space will boast the “over-the-top” boudoir and artistic motifs from Paris on Ponce, according to Engelbrecht, which means nearly every surface will be draped in rich velvet and brand new upholstery.

Like its iteration in Paris on Ponce (pictured above), the new space will have a stage, dance floor, and a salon, and can accommodate seated dinners and pre- and post-cocktail receptions.

“We have 80 weddings a year currently and we’d like to double that,” Engelbrecht said, adding that they are up against a March 1, 2020 deadline for completion—the date of their first event in the new space.

As for Paris on Ponce, “it is super iconic and we just don’t know the future of it because the landlord hasn’t decided if he will rebuild,” Engelbrecht said.

“We love our event space here in downtown and we’re here to stay, but if and when they decide to rebuild and reopen Paris on Ponce, we may create another Le Maison Rouge for that space.”
