Historic Midtown landmark reportedly collapsed in February during ice storm.
The former Daughters of American Revolution Building, a historic Midtown landmark, will be rebuilt after it collapsed in February during a day of significant ice accumulation. The house was in the process of being restored when it collapsed.
Home owners Bert Sanders and Laura Koch, who purchased the house in March 2013 for $350,000, filed a building permit application with City of Atlanta to rebuild the historic Midtown Building, at 1204 Piedmont Avenue.
An estimated $825,000 will be spent constructing the 6,034-square-foot single family home, according to the permit.
The original brick and white-columned facade of the structure was not damaged during the storm in February, and will be incorporated in the rebuild.
