Majestic Carter Atlanta Mixed Use LLC is moving forward with plans to develop a 14-story InterContinental hotel adjacent the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’s domestic terminal.

Planning and design firm Kimley Horn submitted a land development permit to the City of Atlanta for the hotel on behalf of Majestic Cater, a partnership between Majestic Realty Co., Carter, and GPM Investments LLC.

The permit application is the first sign that construction on the hotel, announced in 2015, could soon break ground.

Developing the land where the hotel will be built, including infrastructure, underground utility, and grading installation, could cost $4,500,000.

The project’s total expected cost is $350,000,000 which includes two other hotels across phases two and three.

“HJAIA Hotel,” as the project is referred to in the plans, was supposed to go vertical in early-2018.

An updated timeline for the project indicates a 2020 delivery.

Once complete, the InterContinental hotel will offer at least 440 keys, 80,000 square feet of conference space, and 60,000 square feet of Class A office space.

There will be a separate four-story parking structure, according to the plans.

A restaurant is planned in the main lobby, and a sky bar overlooking a runway will be constructed on one of the hotel’s upper floors.
