Pocket Park to open alongside reconstruction project at the intersection of Oxford and North Decatur roads
Emory Village is currently undergoing a “streetscape” project at the intersection of Oxford and North Decatur roads.
The project includes the construction of a small “pocket park” between the Cheveron gas station and the intersection’s roundabout (circular junction in which road traffic must travel in one direction around a central island).
The nonprofit Alliance to Improve Emory Village (AIEV) is spearheading the park design and creation. AIEV still needs “a remaining $40,000” by June to complete the project, according to the Emory Report.
The 8,300-square-foot park will include benches, trees and greenspace, and a moat-like “water feature” with several “faux bridges.”
Construction on the park will not begin until the roundabout and streetscapes are completed this summer.
