Regal Atlantic Station late last week opened a ScreenX auditorium, the movie theatre’s latest specialty screen joining IMAX, RPX, Regal VIP, and a soon-to-open 4DX experience.
Created by CJ 4DPLEX, the screen offers a panoramic, 270-degree cinema environment that projects films on three walls of the auditorium; the first of its kind in Atlanta.
With the opening at Regal Atlantic Station, ScreenX has eight locations domestically and 155 in total across 12 countries.
The theatre is part of the previously announced expansion plan with the Cineworld Group and its subsidiaries, which include Regal, to bring 100 locations to the U.S. and Europe in the coming years, according to a press release Tuesday.
“We have seen a great expansion of our 4DX cinema technology, and are beyond thrilled to see ScreenX following in its path,” Brandon Choi, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX America, said in the release.
“Cineworld and Regal have been excellent partners that have shown us great support and understand our vision to push the limits of what is possible inside of a movie theatre auditorium…”
In a partnership with Warner Bros., several films are expected to be released in the ScreenX format including Aquaman and Shazam!.
