The nearly 30-year-old candy store builds on an existing relationship with the Downtown mall.
The Southern Candy Company has plans to turn its Peachtree Marketplace pop-up store in Downtown’s Peachtree Center into a permanent outpost.
Underground Atlanta was most recently home to the candy store.
The Southern Candy Company—in operation since 1989—will open its permanent Peachtree Center location in January 2018, manager Samuel Beraki confirmed in a phone call with What Now Atlanta.
Beraki this week filed a permit application with City of Atlanta for the project’s buildout.
The store will occupy a 460-square-foot space in the Downtown mall, according to the filing. An estimated $50,000 will be spent on construction.
The nearly 30-year-old candy store has an existing relationship with Peachtree Center and may look familiar to anyone who frequents the Downtown mall. The Southern Candy Company has done pop-ups at Peachtree Marketplace and participates in the farmer’s market from April to October.
