A development at Atlantic Station would create more than 600,000 square feet of office space with street-level retail.
The project called The Forge would consist of three buildings at the current site of the Overtime Elite Arena basketball facility on 17th Street, Urbanize Atlanta reports. According to the news outlet, the design would be a nod to the mixed-use district’s history as a steel mill.
The buildings would be stacked on a three-story deck to raise the ground plane to street level.
“Contemporary interventions of glass and steel along the east facade and main entry expand the existing openings,” according to plans from Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, a Chicago-based firm.
The development represents the second phase of the Atlantic Yards project by Hines, a real estate developer based in Houston.
The Forge has a target completion date of 2025, according to the plans.
