Atlanta-based residential developer Thrive Homes last week broke ground on Ironside, a new-construction townhome community with 24 units in the East Atlanta Village.

The project is a one-of-a-kind, according to Chris Rudd, CEO of Thrive.

“Homes are not widgets but rather an extension of who you are,” Rudd told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone interview Wednesday.

“We don’t repeat any projects. We custom design all of our plans for all of our projects and Ironside is no exception.”

Ironside, at 1321 Glenwood Avenue SE, is Thrive’s ideal “in-town, in-fill” project, replacing a run-down gas station and “other dilapidated buildings that have been boarded up for years.”

Each unit, starting in the high-400s, will be complete with a shade-sail-finished rooftop terrace and optional outdoor kitchen with grilling area.

Skylights atop the four flights of open stairs will provide natural light throughout.

Other key features include “oversized commercial-style windows,” modern cabinetry, hardwood floors, “special and specific trim,” and two-car garages.

“The main amenity is the specific location. This is the heart of East Atlanta. There are so many bars, restaurants, and shops literally right there.”

Rudd expects Ironside to go vertical by the end of February with a finished product set to hit the market late-spring, 2018.

Ironside’s groundbreaking comes on the heels of Thrive’s recently-completed Reynoldstown Row development with “several more getting ready to start.”
