MetLife Investment Management and its development partners on Friday imploded a former office midrise, at 1330 W Peachtree Street NE, in preparation for going vertical on Midtown Union.

Demolition permits for the implosion were filed with the City of Atlanta more than a year ago.

“The demolition was a key milestone in preparation for the first phase of the coming Midtown Union development,” a company spokesperson in an email told What Now Atlanta this week.

Phase I of Midtown Union calls for a 26-story, 606,000-square-foot LEED Certified Class A office building, along with a 12-story, 200 key (approx.) hotel, and a 350-unit (approx.) multifamily development.

It is expected to be completed in 2022.
