WeWork is moving forward with plans to open a three-story, 118,000-square-foot location in West Midtown’s The Interlock.
The co-working giant in recent days filed a series of permit applications with the City of Atlanta to buildout the shared-workspace office community, at 1115 Howell Mill Road.
A source with first-hand knowledge of the plans confirmed the permit filings in an email to What Now Atlanta (WNA) this week, adding that aside from adjusting its opening to spring 2021, “details from the original announcement remain the same.”
WeWork by way of a press release from The Interlock Developer S.J. Collins Enterprises in late-2018 said it would open the location in fall 2020.
The cause of the delay is unclear.
Building out the new facility could cost upwards of $4,000,000, according to the official City filings.
Located at the corner of Howell Mill Road and 14th Street, The Interlock is expected to offer 200,000 square feet of office space, 100,000 square feet of retail, 345 apartment units and a rooftop view of the city’s skyline, representing approximately $245 million of new development.
Phase I is scheduled for completion in 2020 and the project’s Phase II is still in planning with the City.
More likely in spring 2021: (a) WeWork is bankrupt; or (b) completes this buildout?
