The Chey family, known in Atlanta for neighborhood staples Doc Chey’s Noodle House and Osteria 832, announced their newest concept last weekend. Father-Daughter Duo Expands Virginia-Highland’s Legacy with Lounge 832, a refined craft cocktail lounge nestled in the heart of the historic Atkins Park- Virginia-Highland neighborhood
Designed as the after-hours extension of Osteria 832, Lounge 832 brings a new dimension to the neighborhood’s social scene-one where craft, comfort, and connection meet. The intimate space explores natural in-house spirit infusions, seasonally rotating drinks, and house-made ingredients, all paired with a selection of thoughtful small bites meant to complement the night.
“We wanted to create the kind of place we’d actually want to unwind in after-hours,” says Megen Chey, who co-created the concept alongside her father, Rich Chey in a statement. “Lounge 832 feels elevated yet familiar, like your favorite local bar, but with better cocktails and a deeper sense of connection.”
Lounge 832 blends old-world hospitality with a modern craft approach, where guests are invited to linger, sip, and engage. Whether stopping in for a post-dinner drink, a cozy date night, or an easy conversation with friends, the lounge offers a glowing, low-key escape that embodies the same neighborhood spirit that has defined the Chey family’s restaurants for nearly three decades.
For founder Rich Chey, Lounge 832 marks his third Atlanta concept, but it represents something new- a collaboration with his daughter and a continuation of a deeply rooted neighborhood mission.
“When we opened Doc Chey’s in 1997, our goal was simple: create a neighborhood spot that served affordable, delicious, and healthy comfort food,” says Rich. “Over the years, we realized our purpose extended beyond our menus and was about community. We’ve always believed in giving back to the neighborhoods that support us.”
Through ongoing initiatives and events like the Morningside Mile, the Chey family has raised over $375,000 for local schools, fire stations, and nonprofits, and has provided more than 420,000 meals to food-insecure neighbors. Lounge 832 continues that legacy of good karma through action, but this time through a lens of hospitality that encourages guests to connect with one another as much as with what’s in their glass.
Lounge 832 is located at Osteria 832 in Virginia-Highland (832 North Highland Avenue NE)
Lounge 832 is open Thursday & Sunday 9:30PM-12:30AM AND Friday & Saturday 9:30PM-2:00AM
