BCY Architects on Tuesday presented plans to the Midtown Alliance Design Review Committee (DRC) to convert a two-story house (recently used as offices), at 1100 West Peachtree Street, into a restaurant. The 5,500-square-foot building sits squarely between SkyHouse Midtown and Northside Medical and dates back to the early twentieth century. It is “one of that last remaining vestiges from Midtown’s early days when it was planned by farsighted entrepreneurs to be an elegant residential district,” according to a recap from the DRC published Wednesday.

BCY would add an outdoor patio to the structure if the project advances, which is likely given the DRC was “enthusiastically supportive of the project.” Recommendations include “using more varied materials on the retaining wall for the patio dining area to break down the scale and add durability to the structure, which will be immediately adjacent to the sidewalk” and “creating safe spaces for pedestrians by maintaining a 10-foot-wide clear zone on the sidewalk and delineating the driveway from the pedestrian entrance to the restaurant.”

JLL first listed the property for sale in 2019 which includes a 0.23-acre lot in the shadow of the surrounding buildings — Skyhouse Midtown, a 23-story, 320-unit high-rise apartment building and Northside Hospital’s 12-story medical office building. BCY has not disclosed potential restaurant tenants nor has a timeline for the project been announced. Reps for the firm did not immediately respond to What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
