Three new restaurant concepts are preparing to debut across the Atlanta area. The upcoming openings were revealed last week, offering a first look at what’s next for Atlanta’s dining scene. While some are offering Southern flavors, others are bringing Mexican spices to the city’s food scene.
Three Atlanta Restaurant Openings Revealed Last Week
WhatNow spotlighted three upcoming restaurant projects in metro Atlanta last week. From Mexican restaurants to expanding Southern concepts, here’s a look at the forthcoming concepts:
1. La Finca Mexican Kitchen & Tequilas

Continuing the La Finca legacy, retired owner Naomi Villanueva’s son, Alexander Terell, is preparing to open a new location. He will open La Finca Mexican Kitchen & Tequilas at 2235 Maple Street, Suite A. The restaurant is expected to open by the end of January, pending approval of its liquor license.
Spread across a 2,450-square-foot space, it will feature designs inspired by Villanueva’s birthplace, Michoacan, Mexico. The restaurant will seat 92 people inside and 20 people outside, serving modern Mexican cuisine with dishes inspired by the original La Finca menu. Read more about the concept here.
2. The Busy Bee

The Busy Bee is planning a new outpost at The Mitchell at Centennial Yards. Set to open next year, the new location will bring the historic brand to Atlanta’s Centennial Yards district. The restaurant will offer its Southern menu with a new fast-service format at the new location.
It will bring popular treats like fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and banana pudding to the location. Apart from delicious Southern food, the restaurant will also feature a full cocktail, beer, and wine menu. Know more about the opening here.
3. Dune and Drift

Arriving at 1152 Pryor St. SW, Unit D, is a new restaurant called Dune and Drift. Spread over 4,800 square feet, the space is still in the early stages of development. Owned by Ashish Shetty, the recently filed permit indicates plans for a restaurant and a rooftop bar-lounge.
Details on the opening timeline, menu, and concept remain unclear for the time being. Additional details are expected in the coming months. Learn more about the project here.
With multiple concepts in the pipeline, Atlanta’s dining scene continues to expand. The forthcoming openings are expected to add fresh energy to the city’s evolving restaurant landscape.
