Neapolitan-style pizzeria Ammazza is no longer serving pies in Decatur after a short two-year stint, at 314 E Howard Ave. The restaurant over the weekend permanently closed its doors, according to a post on Ammazza’s Facebook. “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of our Decatur location,” the social media post states. “We will continue serving the community through Ammazza Edgewood.”
The Old Fourth Ward outpost on Edgewood — the original for the two-location pizza joint — launched in 2012 under the direction of brothers Hugh and Jason Connerty. It closed temporarily in summer 2017 when its century-old home was damaged as the result of two car crashes. It reopened in spring 2019 right after the now-shuttered Decatur location made its debut.
It’s unclear why Ammazza Decatur has closed its doors as a reason for the shutter was not provided as part of the social media announcement, and reps for the pizzeria on Monday did not immediately respond to What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.

That rent it too high for the location. They need to make it a yoga studio already or daycare already and quit blaming decatur for the ‘cursed’ space.
