The restaurant is relocating to the old Carpe Diem space to make way for new Avondale mixed-use development.

Avondale Estate’s Coyote’s Mexican Grill is being forced out of its natural habitat.

The restaurant’s current home, at 2730 E College Ave., could soon be redeveloped into a mixed-use development with 10,000-square-feet of retail and restaurant space, and 175 apartments, Decaturish first reported.

Coyote’s Mexican Grill will relocate to 105 Sycamore Place and should open November 20, Mayalo Salgado, the restaurant’s owner, told What Now Atlanta in an interview Wednesday.

Coyote’s Mexican Grill is replacing the now-shuttered Carpe Diem beneath the Ice House Lofts.

The restaurant’s current location will remain open until Salgado obtains a liquor license for the new spot, he said.

While the new space is ready for service, Coyote’s Mexican Grill’s alcoholic beverage application isn’t being reviewed by Decatur City Commission until Nov. 7.
